KiKi Math is a maths practice app for children aged 6 to 12, for iPhone and iPad. A round is ten questions and takes about two minutes, with no timer. Kids practise multiplication and division one table at a time, from 2 to 12, or mix them all up, and climb four levels each of addition and subtraction, from simple facts up to carrying and borrowing.
Designed for kids
- Big, tappable answer tiles with an obvious pressed state, so it feels like a toy rather than a test.
- Practice runs full screen with a single close button, so a wandering thumb can’t leave a round by accident.
- Every round mixes in missing-number questions like
7 × ? = 56, so facts are practised from both sides. - A missed question comes back later in the same round, and every miss is saved as a tricky one on the Home screen until it’s been answered right in two separate rounds.
- A table or level is marked mastered at 8 out of 10, and a daily streak rewards coming back tomorrow.
- No accounts, no ads and no purchases. Progress is backed up privately to the family’s own iCloud, and nothing is sent to anyone else.
Under the hood
Pure SwiftUI on iOS 18, with @Observable state and a tokenised theme so every colour, radius, and spacing value comes from one place. Each topic is a question generator behind one protocol, so the practice screen, results and progress tracking don’t know which topic they’re running. The iPad layout uses a sidebar and detail column, and the tables grid re-flows by pane orientation.
Progress lives in UserDefaults and is mirrored to iCloud key-value storage. When two copies disagree they’re merged rather than replaced, so a fresh install that practises before its backup arrives keeps both: best scores take the higher value, streaks join up, and the tricky-ones lists are combined.
Release notes
1.1.1
- Settings. A new tab with switches for sound effects and haptics, and a way to reset progress. Sound and haptics are set per device, so a quiet classroom iPad doesn’t silence the phone at home.
- Feedback. Send feedback by email or rate KiKi Math on the App Store, both from Settings.
- Every topic on Progress. The Progress tab now maps addition, subtraction and division as well as multiplication.
- No repeats. A round never asks the same question twice.
1.1.0
- Three new topics. Division by 2 to 12, plus four levels each of addition and subtraction.
- Missing-number questions. Three questions in every round hide a number instead of the result.
- Tricky ones. Missed questions come back in the same round, and every miss is saved to practise later from the Home screen.
- iCloud backup. Progress is backed up to the family’s iCloud and follows them to a new iPhone or iPad.
- Sounds for right and wrong answers.
1.0
- First release: multiplication tables 2 to 12, ten-question rounds, stars, mastery, a daily streak and a progress map, on iPhone and iPad.
